Music videos follow certain conventions. Some of these include different genres of costumes. Like the song Happy By Pharral Williams the costumes are bright, vibrant and exciting matching what the song in tells of being ' happy '. Whereas with a song like Let her go by passenger the costumes are still everyday clothing but are dull and boring because the song is speaking about letting someone they care about leave. The costumes for these are different because they are different genre's of music.
The settings of a music video would once again change depending on the genre of music that is played and the message it is trying to portray. These include the song Burn by Ellie Goulding and Animals by Martin Garrax. Because the song Animal is an techno electric music it is set in a club because you would mostly hear a song like that is clubs to make people dancing however in Ellie Goulding song Burn it is set outside on a bright sunny day because it is trying give the message of burning something and because its quite a fast paced music it would be outside. One other thing that I have realised in having a good music video is the pace/ editing and cutting of the video so that it fits the song and the lyrics well was change your life by little mix. The editing, cutting and pacing fits the song because of the lyrics and the meaning of song . When it gets to the chorus where it says change your life then it goes to little snip bits of their progress through their life and their fame. This is reflecting on the song and the meaning and message behind it too. What also makes a good video are the kind of shot types that they use to in the video. By watching all the music videos I learnt that the shot types are normally inside at a club or a gig or backstage at one. This might be because the youth they are trying to target would normally hear these kind of things at places like clubs or concerts so they are trying to also connect with them.
