What it Takes to have a Music Video

Music videos follow certain conventions. Some of these include different genres of costumes. Like the song Happy By Pharral Williams the costumes are bright, vibrant and exciting matching what the song in tells of being ' happy '. Whereas with a song like Let her go by passenger the costumes are still everyday clothing but are dull and boring because the song is speaking about letting someone they care about leave. The costumes for these are different because they are different genre's of music.

The settings of a music video would once again change depending on the genre of music that is played and the message it is trying to portray. These include the song Burn by Ellie Goulding and Animals by Martin Garrax. Because the song Animal is an techno electric music it is set in a club because you would mostly hear a song like that is clubs to make people dancing however in Ellie Goulding song Burn it is set outside on a bright sunny day because it is trying give the message of burning something and because its quite a fast paced music it would be outside. One other thing that I have realised in having a good music video is the pace/ editing and cutting of the video so that it fits the song and the lyrics well was change your life by little mix. The editing, cutting and pacing fits the song because of the lyrics and the meaning of song . When it gets to the chorus where it says change your life then it goes to little snip bits of their progress through their life and their fame. This is reflecting on the song and the meaning and message behind it too. What also makes a good video are the kind of shot types that they use to in the video. By watching all the music videos I learnt that the shot types are normally inside at a club or a gig or backstage at one. This might be because the youth they are trying to target would normally hear these kind of things at places like clubs or concerts so they are trying to also connect with them.

Evualtion- Shred: edited

This is a picture of the final logo for Shred.

FeedBack

This is my own evaluation of my logo's and what I think I think I should do in order to improve it and allow it to appeal to my target audience. The non coloured ones are what my peers thought of the logo's and what they thought I should include or remove from the logo in order to make it successful.

By doing these feedbacks it allowed me to understand peoples perceptive of my logo and their thoughts of how it could be improved. It was also good that I had these feedbacks because it allowed me to know what  my target audience thought of the design of the logo's that were meant to reach out and appeal to them.It also allows my logo to be more successful and target the correct people for the right reasons.

Final Logo's

For the radio Lock I think that they best file format would be PNG or GIF. I believe those two would be good in order to save the picture because PNG can be shared between people and it supports and recent web browsers. PNG also supports any lossless of data, transparency and compression. However I believe that GIF would also be suitable as a file format because it is supported by any browser type and it able to be shared between people.

The radio station VIP's file format would be a JPEG because the file can be compressed to be able to save data and to save memory. The picture would also have a high quality standard to it because of its compression and the file. I also think its would be best for the file because it is the most common file format to be able to post on the web and digital photography.

For the station SHRED the file format that would be best for it would be PDF. This is due to the fact that you can open it with any kind of system due to the fact it doesn't have any specific programmer. This would best because it would be easy to share with others because the file format is very small - therefore it would be easy to share to others.

How are the logo's a family?

My logo's are a family because of the resemblance that they all have such as the rose petals and an outer glow to the important parts of the logo which appeals to the target audience and maybe more. Some of the colours presented in the logo's are connected with the colours of red and pink so allow the petals so stand out and to appeal to the target audience and for it to connect with the logo.

Evaluation - SHRED

Evaluation - Lock

Evaluation 2: Lock

Genre and Name

The word Lock gives me the impression of street dance pop ‘n’ lock and of someone dancing to music. The music genre that would be played would be R’n’B, Hip Hop, Disco, house music and music that you can dance to.  People would listen to this kind of music in cars, on iPods, mobile phones and anywhere that they might want to listen to it. The reason why I think that is because these genres of music can be listened to anywhere and at any time. You would hear this kind of music at clubs, concerts and at other places where they may be teens. I would think that they kind of music that would be played would be towards 15+ because this is a diverse genre of music and everyone can listen to it.

Target Audience

The target audience would be 15+ and would be broadcasted towards men and women because they would be like the genre of music that would be played because of the messages and meaning behind the song and the tune of it. I don’t think they would target one particular sex but would try and make their music aim towards both women and men.

Aim to Appeal to Audience

To be able to aim to the target audience I researched some colours and props that my target audience may like and what would be associated with the kind of music that Lock would play. Some of this kind of things would include the colours, if it’s dark, dull or bright, dance moves apart from lock and the kind of other music that would go with it. I was hoping to try and show the message that the channel is trying to represent and the genre of music it will play.

Competitors

Stations competitors would be other Hip Hop and R’n’B stations that have a diverse genre of music such as MusicNest and KQSP. This is because they play the same kind of music and they know what their target audience would like. Another factor would be because their logos are bright and appealing to their audience, so their audience would want to listen to their music because they would feel like they know them well. I think that my station would be eye catching because it had a diverse music genre and appeals to all audiences over 15.

“Look “

The image that I am trying to show through my logo is to show that it is a fun and diverse channel for anyone to listen to. I’m trying to show the individuality of the channel by the kind of music that they would play and the look of the channel is energetic and fun through the use of their music and their tone. This would be good for my audience because they would enjoy dancing and having fun with their friends whilst listening to music, so it would liven up the mood and they would be able to dance to it.

Creating the Look

To be able to get the ideal look and image for my logo I had to look for a good font on dafont.com and looked for a font that would be ideal for my logo and that would fit and suit the image. I was trying to look for something that was retro tech and like club music kind of font.  I also wanted something that didn’t look too false or fake within the logo. I changed the colour to pink so that it would stand out and look appealing.

To be able to use this font I had to screen shot it and crop it down so that I can use it in my logo.  Once I had imported it into Photoshop I removed the background with the magic wand tool and used the paint bucket to change the colour of the font.

Once I had the colour of the font I then added the rose to the centre of the ‘o’ in lock and changed its brightness and glow using the brightness and contrast setting and the outer glow option. I also decided to change the colour of the lock to red and pink so that it would appeal to the target audience and so that it would stand out well and be eye catching.

Once I had done that I thought that adding a key to the logo would make it seem complete because you can’t have a lock without a key. Once I had added the key to the back of the lock I changed the contrast of the key so that it can stand out within the bright and vibrant colours of the logo.

Most Successful Part of Logo

For me the most successful part of the logo is the font that the ‘lock ‘is in because of the pulse like feature it has on it. I also feel like the rose in the centre with the outa glow looks really good and is located in the best part of the logo that it could be in. It makes the audience feel like they are special and one of kind. To be able to portray this very well I researched the kind of things my audience would like and incorporated it in the logo.

What could make it look better?

To make the logo look better I would probably change the colours of the logo or maybe just the black because it makes the logo look a bit too punk and rock like and that doesn’t really fit the image that I was trying to portray. To make it even better I would also add the radio stations logo at the bottom corner so that it would be different so that I can indorse the kind of channel that they are. The logo doesn’t have enough factors in it to be able to portray what the channel is about. In order to do this I was thinking of having a beatbox and having the lock logo as the speakers of the beatbox showing the excitement and that it is as twice as fun as it really is. I could also change the colours because they look punk and that isn’t what I’m trying portray.
This is the final logo for lock
